Some New Essence Brushes in my Collection

Hi guys! Happy Monday. How was your weekend? I spend some quality time with the birthday boy who turned 9 on Friday. And we're already in February? How crazy is that ??

Last year I decided to gift my mom some new make-up brushes and get me some of the new Essence collection too. Not only are these brushes gorgeous ( I LOVE LOVE  LOVE the white and rose gold handles ... that alone is enough to pick these up, to be honest.). I do love Essence brushes in general - so I was excited to pick some up for me too (and got one in my advent 2018 Advent Calendar too - that perfectly matched the set so I'm a super happy camper.

Let's get chatting about the brushes, how I found them and the prices.  I picked up all my ones from Takelot - but I have seen them in Dischem too.

Essence Bronzer Brush R80
This is such a good fluffy brush perfect for blending in bronzer without looking streaky or patchy. The brush doesn't pick up too much color and is so soft and blends perfectly - the tapered shape of the brush makes this brush perfect if you would like to use it for contouring too.

Essence Flat Powder Brush R80
Again - this is another winner from the collection. The brush is super soft and blends powder perfectly on the skin. I love how this makes sure your powder doesn't look too cakey on the skin as it doesn't pick up tons of product.

Essence Smudging Brush R30
The Smudging brush has short densely packed bristles - making it the perfect brush for someone who loves doing a smokey eye look or smudging out the lower lash line. It will also work nicely for highlighting the brow bone or highlighting the inner corner of the eye. This brush might look small but it does pack a punch.

Essence Flat Contouring Brush R80
Now while I have been raving about all the brushes so far - this one isn't my favorite. This is a densely packed flat contouring brush - which I feel isn't the easiest to blend out a contour with. ( Or at least I struggle when using this brush ) . If you like a super precise sharply cut contour you will love this brush - but if you prefer a more natural look this isn't the best brush to pick.

Essence Make-Up Buffer Brush R80
This is a good brush if you are looking for a foundation brush. While I do love applying my foundation mostly with a sponge - I do have days where I just prefer using a brush. This helps your foundation blend effortlessly and looks so beautiful and natural on the skin. My only complaint is after a wash or two this brush had a little shedding though.

Essence Cheek Brush R65
Honestly, this is hands down my favorite brush from the collection. This has easily been promoted to my everyday favorite blush brush - so when I got the mini version in my Advent Calendar last year I was super happy too. You can't buy the smaller version - but I know that brush will be a firm travel favorite. It doesn't pick up too much blush yet blends it out effortlessly and makes even the most intense blushes look natural. If you can find this brush ( I did notice it was sold out on Takealot now ) - run and get yourself one.

Essence Eyebrow Brush R35  This isn't pictured in the main picture because at the time of taking my photos - this brush was missing (aka lying in Lynette's pocket until I discovered it two days later doing washing). This is a great brush for using with any eyebrow pomade - it makes applying it super easily. I did, however, find it is super tricky to clean as the bristles are super short. It makes it super easy for applying - just not so easy for cleaning.

Overall - if you are in the market for some new pretty brushes - these are a pretty good affordable option.

How was your weekend?
