Emily Osment Says Growing Up Was Easier With No Social Media

Sure, social media apps like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter can be awesome and a great way to connect with friends. But they can also make your life more stressful, especially if you're a teenager in high school (FOMO, anyone?), as former Hannah Montana starlet Emily Osment knows.

Emily, who played Lilly on the hit Disney series alongside Miley Cyrus, says she's glad she grew up without it during AOL Build. "The best thing about it was going through high school at a time when we didn't really have Facebook,"she shared. "We had like [AOL] instant messenger. I think the best thing about it was not being that in touch with the world and these days we're so in touch with everything."

The actress, who has more than 3.65 million followers on Twitter today, says she liked not being concerned about wearing cool clothes as a teen. "In high school, I was wearing my Alan Alda M*A*S*H* t-shirt everyday. I wasn't caring about anything," Emily explains. "You didn't have everybody's perspective telling you what you were supposed to be like and I think we should try and get back to that."

See more of Emily's wit and wisdom when her hit ABC Family show Young & Hungry airs Wednesdays at 8 pm!
