The President-elect of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has asked his personal aides to confine themselves to their officially assigned roles.
Buhari said this in a statement issued through Malam Garba Shehu, the Director of Media and Publicity of All Progressives Congress ( APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on Wednesday. The President-elect instructed all members of his staff including those directly attached to him to steer clear of dealing with the media.
Mallam Garba Shehu said Buhari aligned himself with APC's stance which had earlier expressed disagreement with the temporary barring of Africa Independence Television (AIT) from covering his media events. Buhari said his media team should be left to deal with their colleagues as they best know how to.
The statement also said Buhari was neither consulted nor informed about the AIT barring and only became aware of the matter after the public uproar it generated.
